Hypothesis- Write a hypothesis that describes four ways you think plates can move in relationship to each other.
Materials-
Clay
Markers
Cardboard
Instructions-
Make your four models on the piece of cardboard provided.
Neatly label the layers in your model. Label which plate would be the oceanic plate or the continental plate. You must include the crust and the mantel in your model.
Then make and educated guess and label your models as convergent, divergent, a subduction zone, or transform boundary on the piece of cardboard.
Below create a short definition for these four types of movements in the student definition spot.
Once you have your definitions come up and get the definitions provided by Ms. Borden. Record any difference found between your two definitions in the teacher definition space.
If necessary label your models again. For full credit both the student definition and teacher definition must be recorded and an initial and final set of labels must be shown.

Conclusion- Answer the following question in a short essay format. You may have to use other resources such as your book, your notes, or the internet to answer all the questions.
1. What are the four types of plate movements?
2. Define them and explain which type would occur between oceanic plates and continental plates and why? Remember that some of the plate movements can occur between two continental plates, two oceanic plates, or one of each.
3. Give examples and explain what occurs on the surface of the earth when the plates collide for each type of movement. (Ex. Earthquakes)
4. Can we feel the plates moving daily, why or why not?
5. When the plates move is it in an isolated area or is it a whole process that occurs all around the world at the same time?
